Cake Smash
Celebrate your little one's birthday with a day to remember.
What is a cake smash photoshoot?
A cake smash session celebrates your baby turning one with fun, playful photographs that capture their growing personality. Your child is given a small cake to explore, taste and enjoy, and the natural reactions make for lively, expressive images.
The session usually includes simple portraits before the cake, followed by the messy celebration and a clean up at the end. Styling can be minimal and neutral or more creative to suit your home and your child’s character. It is a relaxed way to mark their first birthday with images that feel joyful and memorable.
What to expect on your 1st birthday shoot
Before your cake smash photoshoot in Aberystwyth, we will have a relaxed phone or video chat to go through colours, styling, what to bring and any questions you may have. I am a specialist baby photographer in Aberystwyth and your child’s comfort and happiness are always the priority.
The aim is for you to arrive feeling prepared and relaxed, knowing every detail has been planned. You can look forward to a fun, playful session that celebrates your baby turning one in a way that feels simple, joyful and personal to you.
During the shoot
A cake smash photoshoot in Aberystwyth has three fun stages designed to keep your baby happy and relaxed.
First, we start with simple portraits in a cute outfit, capturing natural expressions and playful milestone photos, with or without props like the number one.
Next comes the cake smash. After a quick outfit change, your baby can explore the cake at their own pace. Some dive straight in, others need a little encouragement, and it always leads to joyful images. If you prefer, we can swap cake for fruit, jelly or your baby’s favourite food.
Finally, we finish with a bath splash. You can choose from different tubs and styles such as bubbles, milk bath or floral bath. Your baby has fun splashing while we capture clean, happy photographs to end the session.
After the cake smash shoot
Your cake smash photos are carefully finished after the session. I select the best images and edit them with attention to colour, expression and detail, so the final gallery looks polished and joyful. Depending on your chosen collection, the images will be lightly or fully hand edited. Within 3 to 6 weeks, you receive a private online gallery where you can view your photographs, download them and choose any prints or products you would like for your home.
